A seven-year-old swimmer from Ranchi has captured national attention after completing a remarkable long-distance ocean swim, setting a new world record in the process.
Ishank Singh successfully crossed the challenging Palk Strait, covering a distance of approximately 29 kilometres. His journey began at Talaimannar and concluded at Dhanushkodi, taking an impressive 9 hours and 50 minutes to complete.
Youngest to Achieve the Feat
With this accomplishment, Ishank has become the youngest swimmer in the world to complete the crossing. The previous record was held by Jay Jaswant, who achieved the feat at the age of 10 in 2019.
The swim route is known for its unpredictable waters, strong currents, and marine challenges, making it a demanding test even for experienced athletes.
