The fourth edition of the India–Sri Lanka Diving Exercise (DIVEX 2026), currently taking place in Colombo, is further enhancing naval cooperation and professional collaboration between the two nations.
The joint exercise brings together the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy, focusing on advanced underwater operations. Activities include specialised mixed-gas diving drills conducted in the waters off Colombo, designed to test precision and endurance in challenging conditions.
DIVEX 2026 is aimed at boosting the two navies’ combined capabilities in critical areas such as underwater search, rescue, and salvage operations. The exercise also serves to improve coordination and interoperability, particularly in responding to maritime emergencies.
Officials say the initiative reflects the growing strategic partnership between India and Sri Lanka, especially in maintaining safety and stability across the Indian Ocean region. Strengthening such collaboration is seen as vital for addressing shared maritime challenges and ensuring effective joint responses.
