The legacy of Gunadasa Kapuge, one of Sri Lanka’s most beloved and influential musical icons, continues to echo in the hearts of generations. Marking the 22nd year since his passing, a special commemorative event will be held to honour his life, music, and timeless contribution to the cultural heritage of the nation.
The 22nd Year Remembrance of Gunadasa Kapuge will take place on Saturday, 28th June 2025, from 6.30 p.m. onwards, at the Vihara Mahadevi Open Air Theatre. The evening promises to be a heartfelt tribute filled with music, memories, and reflections on a life that transformed the landscape of Sinhala music.
This remembrance is presented by Siddhi Vinayak Cine Arts and Sahanya Foundation, and is organized by Siddhi Vinayak Cine Arts. The initiative is led by Mr. Virosh Perera, who invites all admirers of Kapuge’s artistry to gather and celebrate the enduring spirit of his work.
Attendees can expect an evening enriched with renditions of Kapuge’s unforgettable songs, spoken tributes from fellow artists and admirers, and a look back at the milestones of a career that transcended generations.
