Haroon Aslam, representing Texas Wesleyan University, celebrated his first intercollegiate win at the Roadrunner Classic held recently in Georgia, USA.
The 54-hole tournament, played at the renowned Farm in Rocky Face, attracted 63 top collegiate golfers from 12 universities. Haroon led the leaderboard throughout all 13 rounds, demonstrating remarkable consistency and focus. Texas Wesleyan University also delivered a strong team performance, finishing third overall.
Showing impressive composure under pressure, Haroon birdied the final hole to force a playoff. He secured the championship on the very first playoff hole, marking a major milestone in his collegiate golfing career. The tournament’s demanding format—36 holes on the first day followed by 18 on the second—tested both endurance and mental resilience, making Haroon’s achievement particularly noteworthy.
The Farm is considered one of Georgia’s most challenging courses and has previously hosted prestigious events such as the Georgia State Amateur Championship, Southern Amateur Championship, and the Georgia Women’s State Amateur.
Haroon, a former Trinitian, began his golfing journey at age seven under the guidance of coach Padmanathan, and later honed his skills with Kanas Kumar, who helped elevate his performance to an elite collegiate level.
Haroon’s victory not only highlights his individual talent but also strengthens Texas Wesleyan University’s presence in the competitive world of collegiate golf.
