Sri Lanka Police have launched a comprehensive security programme to safeguard foreign embassies and tourist hotels across the country in response to the current global situation.
Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wutler, stated that the enhanced protective measures will remain in effect until authorities determine that the situation has stabilized.
As part of the operation, both stationary and mobile patrol units have been deployed nationwide, supported by intelligence teams operating through all police stations islandwide. The move is aimed at strengthening surveillance and ensuring rapid response capabilities.
Police further indicated that round-the-clock security arrangements can be extended to key tourist attractions and religious sites where necessary. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or information that may assist law enforcement efforts.
Authorities emphasized that the safety of residents, visitors, and diplomatic missions remains a top priority.
