The upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, is already making waves at the box office even before its theatrical debut on March 19. Early ticket sales suggest the film could set new benchmarks for Bollywood.
Global advance bookings have already surpassed Rs 560 million, and industry forecasts indicate the film could exceed Rs 1.5 billion in worldwide pre-sales before it officially opens in cinemas. Such figures are considered unprecedented for a Hindi-language release.
Data from trade tracking platform Sacnilk shows that more than 400,000 tickets have been purchased in India for premiere screenings alone, generating roughly Rs 215 million in domestic revenue.
International markets have also played a major role in the film’s strong start. North America in particular has contributed significantly, with ticket sales from the region alone approaching Rs 270 million. Combined with domestic bookings, worldwide advance sales have already climbed well past the Rs 560 million mark.
Special paid preview screenings are scheduled for the evening of March 18, one day ahead of the official release. In North America, advance bookings for the opening weekend have already crossed $2.8 million, outperforming the first-weekend totals of several major Hindi films featuring stars such as Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Current projections indicate the film could reach about $3 million in the United States alone, with Texas leading sales at $162,198, followed by California with $145,686 and New Jersey with $68,868.
In India, the film has also pushed ticket pricing to new levels. A special “Super Blockbuster Plus” pricing category was introduced, with recliner seats for premiere screenings at INOX Megaplex in Borivali priced as high as Rs 3,100. As of March 12, most of those tickets had already been snapped up, surpassing the previous record of Rs 3,000 set by Pushpa 2: The Rule at Maison PVR.
Trade analysts cited by The Financial Express estimate that paid preview shows alone could generate between Rs 350 million and Rs 400 million — a figure that would mark a historic milestone for Indian cinema. Including preview earnings, the film’s opening-day total in India is currently projected to cross Rs 1.5 billion.
