Delhi Weather Wreaks Havoc 15 Flights Diverted Amidst Sudden Rainfall

Unpredictable weather patterns disrupted air travel in Delhi as adverse conditions forced the diversion of 15 flights, leaving travelers stranded amidst sudden rainfall. The chaos unfolded against a backdrop of scorching heat and looming forecasts of soaring temperatures, reflecting the volatile climate challenges faced by the national capital.

Delhi’s skies turned tumultuous, prompting the diversion of nine flights to Jaipur, two each to Amritsar and Lucknow, with one each redirected to Mumbai and Chandigarh, according to airport sources. The abrupt change in weather, marked by a brief spell of rain, provided some respite to locals grappling with the sweltering April heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted temperatures around 38 degrees Celsius for Delhi over the next few days, hinting at possible relief with light rain on the horizon. However, IMD Senior Scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar cautioned that Eastern India could witness temperatures soaring to 44 degrees Celsius in the coming days, exacerbating the heatwave conditions already prevalent in the region.

As the heatwave tightens its grip on Eastern India, the IMD warns of its persistence in certain states over the next 4-5 days, adding to the challenges posed by the erratic weather patterns.
