Colombo, Dec. 20 (Daily Mirror) – The first selection trial conducted by the Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) to pick players for the Sri Lanka national netball pool will be held on December 21 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, commencing at 8.00 a.m.
The selection trials will be held while targeting the 13th Asian Senior Netball Championships next year and priority will be given to those players with a height of five feet and eight inches and the national pool training is set to commence on January 15.
Meanwhile, the SLNF have already retained the services of P. D. N. Prasadi as Sri Lanka’s Head Coach for the Asian Senior Netball Championships. However, Netball Asia is yet to announce the host country for the Asian Senior Netball Championships with Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Thailand in contention.
SLNF had the honour of hosting the Asian Senior Netball Championships twice in 2001 and 2012 and this time they are confident that they could host the event after a lapse of 12 years.
Sri Lanka has a unique record of having won the Asian Senior Netball Championships on more occasions than any other nation having emerged as champions on six occasions.
