Colombo Fashion Week 2025 kicks off with six designers on Day 1

Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) presented by Mastercard, kicked off in style on Tuesday, February 19th, at Shangri-La Colombo, setting the stage for a week of fashion, creativity, and innovation. The opening night featured six exceptionally talented designers – Aslam Hussein, Chihiro Fernando, Dimuthu Sahabandu, H.D. Halwala, Shri Amarasinghe, and Udaya Wickramasinghe; who captivated the audience with their stunning collections.

As a driving force behind Sri Lanka’s fashion design industry, CFW continues to champion artistic expression, cultural storytelling, and sustainable fashion. Beyond the runway, the platform is vital in positioning Sri Lanka as a global fashion and lifestyle destination, showcasing the country’s creative talent.

chihiro_fernando presents DUSHNA S/S25, a bold collection represented through batik prints where human cells became the inspiration for the motifs. Symbolising the deep and personal nature of humanity.

Founded in 2014 by @udaya_wickramasinghe , @artroomceylon is a collaborative design venture celebrating craftsmanship, sustainability, and modern creativity.
A story of forbidden romance, breaking barriers and liberation in a world governed by societal boundaries. @dimuthu_sahabandu ‘s collection derives inspiration from the story of Major General Sir Thomas Maitland, a British governor of the crown colony of Ceylon and Lovinia Aponsuwa, a mixed – Portuguese Sinhalese dancer, low-born from the “Rodie” community of 1800s Ceylon.
