Chery’s Chinese Copycat Brings Benz Interior on a Budget

In the world of automobiles, where luxury often comes with a hefty price tag, Chery, the Chinese automaker, has disrupted the status quo with its latest offering – the Tiggo 8 Pro Max. This affordable seven-seater SUV not only boasts sharp pricing but also flaunts a flair for design that rivals six-figure luxury machines.

Priced from $41,990 drive-away, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max is Chery’s largest and most expensive car yet, but it still maintains value at its core. Essentially an upscale version of the Tiggo 7, this vehicle combines affordability with sophistication.

Even in its entry-level Urban guise, the Tiggo 8 comes loaded with a plethora of standard equipment, usually found in more expensive models. From 18-inch alloy wheels to synthetic leather upholstery, ambient lighting to a 360-degree camera, and wireless phone charging to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and central infotainment screen – the Tiggo 8 leaves little to be desired. The front seats are not only heated and ventilated but also feature electric adjustment with memory settings.

For those willing to splurge a bit more, the Elite trim, priced at $47,990, offers additional luxuries such as a powered tailgate, heated exterior mirrors, forward-facing dash camera, and third-row air vents with fan speed adjustment. Meanwhile, the Ultimate variant, priced at $47,990, adds all-wheel drive, tinted windows, a panoramic sunroof, exterior puddle lights, and an extra two speakers for a total of 10.

However, what truly sets the Tiggo 8 apart is its interior. Departing from the conventional realm of cheap plastics, the cabin exudes an air of luxury with materials resembling leather, wood-look trim, and silver accents that elevate its ambience. Touch-sensitive buttons on the dash control ventilation and window demisting, seamlessly integrating with the main display, which features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

While the Tiggo 8 impresses with its features and aesthetics, there are still areas for improvement, particularly in the realm of driver aids. Although significantly enhanced compared to previous Chery models, the steering assistance could benefit from further refinement.

In essence, the Tiggo 8 Pro Max exemplifies Chery’s commitment to offering premium features at an accessible price point. With its blend of affordability, sophistication, and practicality, this Chinese copycat challenges established luxury brands, proving that you don’t need to break the bank to experience opulence on the road.
