Anant Ambani’s Vantara enters Mumbai’s premium ice cream market with Vantara Creamery

Vantara, the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation initiative led by Anant Ambani, has entered the premium food space with the launch of Vantara Creamery, an artisanal ice cream brand that has quickly become one of Mumbai’s most talked-about dessert debuts.

Launched at Jio World Drive in Bandra Kurla Complex, the brand made its first appearance through a stylish ice cream truck activation that instantly drew crowds, social media buzz and plenty of curiosity from dessert lovers. The experiential truck operated on 9 and 10 May and is scheduled to return on 16 and 17 May, turning the launch into a shareable lifestyle event rather than a conventional retail opening.

Best known for its large-scale animal welfare work in Jamnagar, Vantara’s move into gourmet desserts may appear unexpected at first glance, but the brand is positioning the venture around storytelling, nostalgia and craftsmanship. Instead of leaning solely on global dessert trends, Vantara Creamery has introduced flavours rooted in familiar Indian tastes, giving the menu a distinctly local identity with a polished, luxury finish.

Among the 17 flavours introduced are Malai Kulfi, Guava Chilli, Filter Coffee and Lemon Sorbet, a line-up designed to balance comfort with curiosity. Malai Kulfi taps into classic Indian dessert nostalgia, while Guava Chilli brings the sweet-spicy street-snack combination many Indians grew up with. Filter Coffee offers a café-inspired richness, and Lemon Sorbet adds a lighter, refreshing contrast for summer cravings.

The brand has also highlighted its use of premium A2 Gir cow milk, which is increasingly associated with health-conscious and premium dairy consumption. Vantara Creamery says the ingredient choice supports a richer texture while aligning with consumers looking for more digestible and thoughtfully sourced products.

Social media has also played a major role in amplifying the launch. Videos of the pastel-toned ice cream truck, flavour reveals and crowd reactions have circulated widely online, helping the brand gain traction even before a permanent retail presence becomes fully visible.

For Vantara, the creamery marks an unusual but strategic expansion into lifestyle-led consumer experiences. And if early buzz is any indication, the brand may have found a sweet spot where nostalgia, premium indulgence and Instagram-friendly presentation come together in one scoop.
