The Airports and Aviation Services Company reported that January 2026 saw the highest monthly air passenger traffic in the past eight years.
A total of 1,045,097 passengers were served across Sri Lanka’s airports during the month, surpassing the previous record set in January 2018, when 1,034,687 travelers passed through the nation’s aviation facilities.
The company also highlighted that throughout 2025, it accommodated 939,539 air passengers, reflecting continued growth in air travel and rising demand for aviation services.
Officials noted that these figures demonstrate a strong rebound in the aviation sector, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s position as a growing hub for international and domestic air travel.
