SriLankan Airlines has issued a public notice cautioning customers about a scam spreading across social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp. These fraudulent messages, sometimes shared by both familiar and unknown contacts, promote fake deals while misusing the airline’s name and branding.
The airline stressed that it does not request payments, one-time passwords (OTPs), credit card details, or any form of banking information through social media channels.
Passengers are encouraged to confirm the authenticity of any promotions by checking if they are published on the airline’s official website or its verified social media pages. The statement also warned that scammers often rely on suspicious links with unusual spellings or create fake accounts to impersonate the airline.
