Gangaramaya Nawam Maha Perahera 2026 to Light Up Colombo with Culture and Spiritual Grandeur

The iconic Gangaramaya Nawam Maha Perahera 2026 is set to return to the streets of Colombo, offering devotees and visitors a spectacular showcase of Sri Lanka’s rich cultural and religious heritage.

The Gangaramaya Nawam Maha Perahera 2026 will take place on Saturday, 31 January and Sunday, 01 February 2026, beginning at 7.00 p.m., in the heart of Colombo. Organised by the historic Gangaramaya Temple, the event is regarded as one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious annual cultural pageants.

Held along Sri Jinarathana Road, Colombo 02, the Perahera will feature a breathtaking procession of traditional dancers, drummers, decorated elephants, and religious pageantry, symbolising harmony, devotion, and Sri Lanka’s multicultural identity.

This year, a limited number of exclusive Tourist Zone tickets are available, allowing visitors to experience the Perahera from a specially designated viewing area.
