Burhani Serendib School will host Sri Lanka’s National Selections for the World Robotics Olympiad (WRO) 2025 on September 6 at 12:30 PM, marking a historic milestone for the country’s youth in technology and innovation.
The event will select teams to represent Sri Lanka at the WRO International Final in Singapore from November 26–28, 2025, under the theme “The Future of Robots.”
The WRO is one of the world’s most prestigious robotics competitions, where thousands of students from across the globe design, build, and program robots to solve real-world challenges. The 2025 edition invites participants to envision how robotics can transform cities, explore space, and deliver AI-driven solutions for tomorrow’s challenges.
For Sri Lanka, this event represents a transformative leap, offering students not only technical experience but also opportunities to build teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills while competing on the global stage.
Each year, the WRO International Final attracts over 500 teams and 3,000 participants from dozens of countries, supported by international judges and volunteers.
By hosting the national selections, Burhani Serendib School reinforces its vision of preparing students for a technology-driven future. The school has long emphasized innovation beyond traditional classrooms, equipping students with the skills to become creators and leaders.
A representative of BSS stated: “Robotics is about more than machines; it’s about imagination, problem-solving, and teamwork. We believe Sri Lanka’s youth are ready to shine globally, and WRO provides that platform.”
The National Selections on September 6, 2025, will be the starting point of Sri Lanka’s journey into “The Future of Robots,” led by its dreamers, innovators, and young trailblazers.
