Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha today, strongly rejecting claims that foreign powers, including the United States, pressured India to halt Operation Sindoor. He asserted that no world leader asked India to stop the military offensive, and that it was Pakistan who pleaded for the ceasefire, unable to bear further damage.
Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, with PM Modi stating that Indian forces struck deep into Pakistan, targeting and destroying terror camps. He emphasized that India avenged the attack within just 22 minutes, showcasing the strength of a self-reliant nation.
Modi further declared that the operation demonstrated India’s zero tolerance policy on terrorism and firmly rejected Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail tactics. “We no longer differentiate between terror masterminds and governments that shelter them,” he said.
He credited Indian-made drones and missiles for outclassing Pakistan’s defense systems and claimed that key airbases and military assets in Pakistan were severely damaged. Modi also criticized the Congress party, accusing it of failing to support the Armed Forces and importing issues from Pakistan.
🔍 Home Minister’s Remarks:
Home Minister Amit Shah revealed that over 1,000 people were questioned during the investigation, and two individuals, Bashir and Parvez, were identified as harboring terrorists. He stated that the 22-minute airstrike on 7th May destroyed nine terror camps and neutralized over 100 terrorists, 100 kilometers inside Pakistan — without harming civilians.
Shah slammed former minister P. Chidambaram for demanding proof of Pakistan’s involvement, and stressed that Operation Sindoor has exposed Pakistan globally.
🧭 Opposition’s Mixed Reactions:
Rahul Gandhi supported the operation but criticized the government for allegedly reaching out to Pakistan minutes after launching the strike.
Priyanka Gandhi praised the Armed Forces but blamed the government for the security lapse in Pahalgam, pointing to a lack of medical and security presence.
DMK’s Kanimozhi reaffirmed the Opposition’s patriotism, while Akhilesh Yadav demanded clarity on the ceasefire deal.
Sayani Ghosh (TMC) and Dimple Yadav (SP) raised concerns over intelligence failure.
Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde praised India’s global outreach post-operation.
IUML’s ET Basheer and Congress’s Venugopal raised questions about India’s current international stature and alleged third-party involvement in the ceasefire.
Despite criticism, the government maintained that Operation Sindoor was a strategic success, and PM Modi assured that India’s resolve against terrorism will not waver.
