Sri Lanka ‘A’ Storm to Dominant Victory Over New Zealand ‘A’ in Opening Match

Sri Lanka ‘A’ delivered an emphatic performance to kick off their three-match unofficial ODI series against New Zealand ‘A’, recording a convincing win in the opener held in Galle.

Batting first after being put in, the home side put together a solid total of 261 runs, thanks to key contributions across the lineup. Kamil Mishara set the tone early with an aggressive 71 off 49 balls, striking 12 fours and a six. Skipper Sahan Arachchige then anchored the innings with a steady 66 from 81 deliveries, including seven boundaries and a six. Milan Rathnayake added valuable runs later on, compiling 53 off 89 balls with three fours and a six to strengthen the total.

Chasing 262, New Zealand ‘A’ struggled to cope with Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for just 121. Left-arm spinner Wanuja Sahan led the charge with an outstanding five-wicket haul, conceding only 13 runs, while Sonal Dinusha provided strong support with figures of 2 for 10. The spin duo proved too much for the visitors, helping Sri Lanka ‘A’ seal a comprehensive victory.
