The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (October 12) to attend the 78th Session of the WHO South-East Asia Regional Committee as the chief guest.
The high-level health summit, scheduled to take place from October 13 to 15 in Colombo, will gather health ministers, senior officials, and delegates from across the South-East Asia region. The discussions will focus on regional health priorities, pandemic preparedness, and strengthening public health systems.
Dr. Tedros’ visit marks an important moment for Sri Lanka’s health sector, as the country continues its efforts to enhance regional cooperation and healthcare resilience in line with WHO’s global vision for “Health for All.”
