The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Israel has urged Sri Lankan migrant workers residing in Israel to be cautious when receiving messages from unfamiliar sources through social media or email.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, warned that workers should stay alert due to the possibility of cyber-attacks during the current regional tensions.
He explained that the conflict in the Middle East involving Israel, Iran, and the United States has now entered its 11th day and continues to intensify.
According to the ambassador, air-raid sirens were activated seven times during the previous night following missile launches directed toward Israel. He added that such attacks are typically aimed at strategic military and communication facilities.
Given the heightened security situation, Israeli authorities have also cautioned residents against opening suspicious emails, links, or social media messages sent from unknown accounts or phone numbers, as they may be attempts to carry out cyber-attacks.
In light of these warnings, the Sri Lankan Embassy has advised its nationals working in Israel to remain highly vigilant when using digital communication platforms during this period.
