Vishay introduces two ultrafast soft recovery diode modules in the new TO-244 Gen III package

[ad_1]

In the latest TO-244 Gen III package, Vishay Intertechnology has unveiled two novel FRED Pt® 500 A Ultrafast soft recovery diode modules. The Vishay Semiconductors VS-VSUD505CW60 and VS-VSUD510CW60 are specifically engineered to minimize losses and electromagnetic interference (EMI) / radio frequency interference (RFI) in high frequency power conditioning systems, providing superior reliability compared to previous-generation solutions.

The diode modules announced today, specifically the robust TO-244 package, may last up to 46,000 IOL cycles under specific conditions, providing a longer lifespan compared to previous-generation devices. Furthermore, the package that is widely accepted in the market is compatible with other solutions in the TO-244, allowing for a seamless replacement of current designs.

The VS-VSUD505CW60 and VS-VSUD510CW60 are well-suited for various applications, including high frequency welding, high current converters, ballast water management systems (BWMS) in railway equipment, cranes, and ships, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and other scenarios where switching losses contribute significantly to the overall losses. The softness of their recovery in certain applications obviates the necessity for a snubber, hence diminishing the number of components and decreasing expenses.

The diode modules are available in a standard cathode layout and offer a low forward voltage drop of up to 0.82 V, a thermal resistance of 0.16 °C/W from junction to case, and an operating temperature range of up to +175 °C.
