Virgin Australia, Qantas, Jetstar drop epic Boxing Day sale with flights from $34

Australia’s major airlines have slashed their domestic and international fares for Boxing Day.

Virgin Australia is selling more than 500,000 discounted domestic and international fares, Jetstar is selling discounted fares across 85 domestic and international routes, and Qantas has discounted fares available on almost every domestic route.

Jetstar’s domestic one-way fares start at just $34 and one-way international fares from $145.

Virgin Australia’s one-way domestic fares start from $49 and return international fares from $419.

Qantas’ domestic sale has fares starting from $109 one-way.

Jetstar’s Boxing Day sale

The budget airline has launched a 48-hour sale, which includes cheap flights to Aussie holiday hotspot Bali and Hawaii.

Aussies can fly from Perth to Bali from $145, Melbourne to Bali from $175, and Cairns to Bali from $179.

There are Sydney to Auckland fares from $159, Sydney to Honolulu from $249, and Sydney to Phuket from $249.

Jetstar’s cheapest domestic one-way fares include Melbourne (Avalon) to Sydney from $34 and Brisbane to Mackay from $50.

Starting from $54 travellers can fly from Adelaide to Melbourne (Tullamarine), Newcastle to Gold Coast, Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Sydney, and Melbourne (Tullamarine) to Gold Coast.

Other routes include Sydney to Hamilton Island and Sydney to Uluru from $94, and Perth to Sydney from $154.

Even cheaper fares are on offer for Club Jetstar members with fares from $25. Travellers can sign up to become a member for $55 a year when making a booking on the airline’s website.

The sale ends at midnight (AEDT) on Wednesday, unless sold out prior, and travel dates vary by route but include mid-July to late November next year.

Checked baggage is not included on Jetstar flights.

Virgin Australia’s Boxing Day sale

During Virgin Australia’s four-day sale, Australians can score flights to Bali from Adelaide and the Gold Coast from $449 return.

They can also fly return to the wildly popular holiday island from Brisbane from $559, Melbourne from $579, and Sydney from $579.

Return flights from Sydney to Queenstown on New Zealand’s South Island start at $435, and start from $505 when leaving from Brisbane.

Flights between Cairns to Tokyo start from $679 return.

The airline’s cheapest domestic one-way sale fares include Sydney to Ballina from $49, Melbourne to Launceston from $59, Sydney to Sunshine Coast from $69, and Sydney to Gold Coast from $79.

Melburnians can score flights to Adelaide from $99, to the Gold Coast and Canberra from $109, and to Cairns from $145.

Flights from Brisbane to Cairns start from $105 and to Uluṟu from $139. One-way fares from

Sydney to Hamilton Island start at $129.

The Virgin Australia sale runs from Boxing Day until midnight (AEST) on Friday, unless sold out prior, and the sale fares can be found on select flights between January 10 and November 7 next year.

Checked baggage is not included on Virgin Australia Lite fares, but is on other fare types.

Qantas’ Boxing Day sale

The national carrier’s domestic Boxing Day sale will run for 72 hours until midnight (AEDT) Thursday, unless sold out prior.

Qantas said there were discounted fares available on almost every domestic route during a range of travel periods in the second half of next year.

The cheapest one-way sale fares include Launceston to Melbourne from $109, Adelaide to Melbourne from $119, Melbourne to Sydney from $135, Melbourne to Gold Coast from $145, and Brisbane to Sydney from $145.

Flights from Hamilton Island to Sydney start at $189, while Aussies can fly from Adelaide to Perth starting from $259, and Melbourne to Perth from $269. Perth to Sydney fares are on sale from $309.

All Qantas fares include checked baggage, complimentary food and beverages, free Wi-Fi and seat selection.
