United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, has announced the forthcoming donation of a Beechcraft King Air aircraft to Sri Lanka. This aircraft will bolster Sri Lanka’s efforts to patrol its coastal waters and safeguard its sovereignty.
Addressing the US Institute of Peace on the Indo-Pacific strategy, Mr. Lu emphasized the importance of supporting Sri Lanka’s sovereignty. He highlighted the US government’s commitment to aiding Sri Lanka in this regard by providing patrol boats to the Sri Lankan military and delivering a King Air aircraft this year for coastal surveillance purposes.
Mr. Lu commended Sri Lanka’s remarkable economic recovery and underscored the collaborative efforts of various nations in facilitating the country’s progress.
