UAE Woman Praises Dubai Police for Swift Action After Beach Indecency Report

Dubai Police acted promptly after an Emirati woman reported a public indecency incident at a local beach, reigniting discussions on cultural awareness and respect in shared public spaces across the UAE.

Dubai Police have taken swift action following a report of public indecency at a beach parking area, an Emirati woman has confirmed. Amna Alhaddad said authorities are actively following up on the incident after she filed a formal complaint, praising the police for their professionalism and quick response.

Alhaddad shared her experience on social media, thanking Dubai Police and reminding residents and visitors that suspicious or inappropriate behaviour can be reported through the Police Eye feature on the Dubai Police mobile application.

The incident occurred when she witnessed a man publicly disrobing in a beach parking lot. Describing the experience as shocking and distressing, Alhaddad said such behaviour violates the UAE’s public decency laws and cultural values, particularly in family-friendly spaces. Her post gained widespread attention, sparking conversations about personal responsibility and respect in public areas.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Alhaddad stressed that maintaining safety and dignity in public spaces is a shared responsibility. She called for proactive educational awareness campaigns in areas such as beaches, airports, malls and schools, emphasising that prevention through awareness is more effective than reacting after incidents occur.

Her concerns were echoed by other residents. British expatriate Hannah George noted that while swimwear is acceptable on beaches, wearing revealing clothing in nearby public areas such as cafés and walkways can be uncomfortable for others and disrespectful to local norms. She highlighted the importance of covering up when leaving beach areas to maintain mutual respect.

According to official UAE guidelines, modest dress and appropriate public behaviour are expected across the country. While swimwear is permitted on beaches and in the water, topless sunbathing and any form of nudity are strictly prohibited and can result in legal action. Authorities continue to encourage residents and tourists alike to familiarise themselves with local laws to help preserve the UAE’s safe and family-oriented environment.
