UAE President Opens Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the opening of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2026 at ADNEC today, launching one of the UAE’s key global platforms for climate action and sustainable development.

The event brings together world leaders, government officials, industry heads and experts to discuss practical pathways for a more resilient and sustainable future.

Several senior UAE leaders were also present, including His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with ministers, sheikhs and international delegates.

In his remarks, President Sheikh Mohamed welcomed participants and said ADSW reflects the UAE’s commitment to uniting policymakers, businesses and investors to turn climate goals into real progress. He highlighted the growing importance of innovation and advanced technologies — especially AI — in building stronger, cleaner, future-ready economies.

The ceremony opened with the national anthem and a special video highlighting the need for integrated approaches across energy, food, water and environmental systems.

H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, delivered the keynote address. He praised the UAE’s practical, partnership-driven approach to clean energy and emphasized that global cooperation remains essential for long-term progress.

Running under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” ADSW 2026 focuses on AI-driven energy solutions, climate finance, food and water security, and cross-sector partnerships designed to accelerate real-world impact.

The weeklong programme, which continues until 15 January, includes the IRENA Assembly, the ADSW Summit, the World Future Energy Summit, Youth for Sustainability events, the WiSER Forum, and multiple specialized gatherings on hydrogen, climate finance and global utilities
