UAE Launches New Consular Services for Golden Visa Holders, Including Emergency and Repatriation Assistance

The United Arab Emirates has expanded its support network for Golden Visa holders by launching comprehensive consular services to assist expatriates abroad during emergencies. Announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the initiative aims to ensure Golden Visa holders are included in evacuation and emergency response plans during global crises and disasters.

A key component of the new service is the repatriation and burial assistance for Golden Visa holders who pass away overseas. This support enables families to complete all related procedures swiftly through simplified consular steps while receiving guidance and care during difficult times.

To further enhance accessibility, MoFA has introduced a 24-hour dedicated hotline (+97124931133), enabling Golden Visa holders to directly reach the ministry’s call centre for immediate assistance.

In cases of lost or damaged passports while abroad, the new system will facilitate the return of expats to the UAE through an electronic Return Document, available on the Ministry’s official website.

Introduced in 2019, the Golden Visa grants long-term residency in the UAE, allowing holders to live, work, and study without the need for a local sponsor. The visa is available for investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, medical professionals, outstanding students, and frontline heroes, among others.

Over the years, the UAE has expanded eligibility, with Dubai now offering Golden Visas to exceptional gamers, influencers, and content creators, while Ras Al Khaimah has extended it to outstanding teachers. In 2024, Abu Dhabi also included superyacht owners in its list of eligible applicants.

Those interested can apply through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) or the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, either through official service centres or online portals.

This latest move reinforces the UAE’s vision to provide comprehensive global support for its residents, further strengthening the nation’s reputation as a secure and compassionate hub for expatriates.
