UAE Introduces Nomination-Based Golden Visa for Lifetime Residency, Easing Access for Indians

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched a new nomination-based Golden Visa, allowing eligible Indians to obtain lifetime residency in the country by paying a fixed fee, marking a significant change from the previous property-based Golden Visa system.

Unlike the earlier property-linked Golden Visa, which could be revoked if the property was sold or divided, the new nomination-based visa grants lifetime residency regardless of property ownership status.

Under this new policy, Indians can secure the Golden Visa for life by paying AED 100,000 (approximately 23.30 lakh), according to reports from news agency PTI citing beneficiaries and officials.

Previously, Indians needed to invest at least AED 2 million (about ₹4.66 crore) in property or a significant amount in business ventures in the UAE to qualify for the Golden Visa.

India and Bangladesh are the first countries chosen for the pilot phase of the nomination-based Golden Visa program.

The application process involves a comprehensive background check that screens for criminal records, anti-money laundering compliance, and even a review of social media activity. The evaluation also considers how the applicant may contribute to the UAE’s economy or society, such as through finance, trade, science, startups, or culture.

Applications can be submitted through One VASCO centers, Rayad Group’s registered offices in India and Bangladesh, or via an online portal. Applicants can obtain pre-approval from their home country without the need to travel to the UAE.

Holders of the nomination-based Golden Visa can bring family members to the UAE. The visa also allows recipients to start or manage businesses or work professionally in the UAE without needing an additional work permit.

This program will soon expand to include China and other countries that have signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE.
