UAE Declares Eid Al Adha Prayer Timings and Public Holiday Schedule

Residents across the UAE are preparing for a four-day public holiday to mark the deeply spiritual Islamic festival of Eid Al Adha. The holiday begins on Thursday, June 5, the Day of Arafah, and continues through Sunday, June 8, offering citizens and residents a long weekend of reflection, prayer, and celebration.

This year, Eid Al Adha falls on Friday, June 6, coinciding with Jumuah (Friday) prayers, making the day especially significant for Muslims across the Emirates. The UAE Fatwa Council clarified that Eid and Jumuah prayers will be held separately, each with its own sermon.

Based on official announcements from the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, and analysis by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, Eid prayer times across the Emirates are as follows:

Abu Dhabi: 5:50 AM

Dubai: 5:45 AM

Sharjah & Ajman: 5:44 AM

Umm Al Quwain & Al Ain: 5:43 AM

Ras Al Khaimah & Fujairah: 5:41 AM

Dhafra: 5:55 AM

On Eid morning, Muslims gather in mosques or open prayer grounds known as musallahs shortly after sunrise. Families dress in their best clothes, recite the Eid takbir, and perform the Eid prayer, followed by a sermon. The day then unfolds with warm greetings, festive meals, and the sacrifice of livestock, commemorating the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). The meat is distributed among loved ones and the less fortunate, highlighting themes of charity and unity.
