London, UK – US President Donald Trump has landed in the UK for his historic second state visit, a trip combining royal pageantry, trade talks, and global diplomacy.
Before departing Washington, Trump described his relationship with Britain as “very good,” calling the visit an “honour” and highlighting his friendship with King Charles, whom he praised as “such an elegant gentleman.”
Landing at London Stansted Airport, Trump was welcomed by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and will stay at Winfield House, the US ambassador’s residence, before a grand royal reception at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.
The ceremonial welcome will include Prince William and Catherine, a gun salute, and a carriage procession inside the Windsor estate. In one of the largest-ever military displays for a state visit, 1,300 service personnel from the Army, Royal Navy, and RAF will form a guard of honour. A joint UK-US flypast featuring F-35 jets and the Red Arrows will also mark the occasion, observed by Trump and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
A highlight of the trip will be the state banquet in St George’s Hall, where King Charles and President Trump will deliver speeches celebrating the “special relationship.”
Alongside royal ceremonies, the visit carries significant economic weight. US tech giants have pledged £31 billion in UK investments, including £22bn from Microsoft for advancements in AI, quantum computing, and nuclear power. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, also announced a £5bn investment in UK artificial intelligence research.
The UK and US will sign an agreement to accelerate nuclear power development, though hopes to remove the 25% tariff on British steel exports to the US remain unresolved.
Meanwhile, anti-Trump protests have surfaced, with images of Trump and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein projected onto Windsor Castle walls. Police confirmed four arrests linked to the “unauthorised projection.”
The visit will conclude Thursday afternoon, with all official events held behind closed doors at Windsor Castle and Chequers, ensuring heightened security.
