Trinity beat Royal to win first leg of 78th Bradby Shield

Trinity College Kandy defeated Royal College Colombo by a point in the first leg of the 78th edition of the prestigious Bradby Shield.

Considered as one the most widely viewed schools rugby encounters in Sri Lanka, the first leg of the 78th Bradby Shield encounter kicked off this evening between Royal College Colombo and the Trinity College Kandy at the Royal College Sports complex in Colombo.

Royalists who have so far claimed 36 Bradby titles are eyeing to claim their sixth consecutive title, a streak that is maintained by the boys from the Reid Avenue since 2017.

The Royalists managed to lead the first half of the match with a score of 13-8.

However the Trinitians who are on a quest to take the Shield home by ending a seven year drought managed to surpass the Royalists in the second half to claim a narrow victory.

The second leg of the Bradby Shield will be played on the 07 September at the Trinity College rugby grounds in Pallekele.
