In a heartbreaking turn of events, the body of renowned British tech magnate Mike Lynch has been recovered from the wreckage of his family’s superyacht, Bayesian, which sank off the coast of Sicily during a violent storm. The tragedy struck while the 56-meter yacht, anchored near the port of Porticello, was hosting 22 passengers and crew members.
Lynch, 59, was a pioneering figure in the UK tech industry and had invited close friends and family aboard the yacht to celebrate his recent acquittal in a high-profile U.S. fraud trial.
Among those who perished were Jonathan Bloomer, a non-executive chair of Morgan Stanley International, his wife Judy, and Chris Morvillo, a prominent Clifford Chance lawyer, along with his wife Neda. The onboard chef, Recaldo Thomas, was also tragically lost.
Rescue teams have recovered five bodies from the wreckage, but Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, remains missing. Fifteen others, including Lynch’s wife, managed to survive the disaster.
The search for Hannah and the investigation into the incident continues as the community mourns the loss of these influential figures.
This devastating event has sent shockwaves through both the tech industry and the families of those involved, as they grapple with the sudden loss of their loved ones.
