Tharaka’s life story is one of courage, commitment, and resilience. Originally from Moratuwa, Tharaka faced significant hardship early on when he lost his father in a bomb blast in 1987. Raised by his grandparents and mother, he was determined to build a better future. His relentless drive and academic excellence led him to earn a degree in Information Technology from Federation University, Australia. Through self-reliance and determination, Tharaka navigated his way from a student in Australia to becoming a successful entrepreneur in Sri Lanka.
Together with Dilu Siriwardhana, who has been an unwavering pillar of support, Tharaka founded Maximus Education Sri Lanka in 2018. This consultancy began as a small, home-based office in Moratuwa and has since transformed into a respected, multifaceted operation with offices and affiliations across Australia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, and China.

As a former international student, Tharaka understands the unique challenges students face when pursuing education abroad. With hands-on experience and a deep understanding of visa processes, Tharaka has built Maximus Education Sri Lanka on a foundation of empathy and expertise. This has earned the company an exceptional success rate in securing visas and educational placements, further bolstered by Dilu’s support in managing operations and assisting students.
Maximus Education Sri Lanka’s new Colombo office now houses 10 dedicated staff members, each specializing in different countries and offering services for higher education, skilled migration, and even schooling from grades 1 to 12. The couple’s commitment to their clients saw Maximus Education Sri Lanka grow in reach and reputation, with an increasing presence on social media. Today, the consultancy has become a trusted name, with ApplyBoard and Crizac among the growing list of partners.
