Teen, 16, shot dead by police after knife attack in Perth

A major police investigation is underway in Perth’s south after police shot dead a teenager who stabbed a member of the public.

The incident happened in the vicinity of a Bunnings car park in Willetton overnight.

WA’s Premier Roger Cook and Police Commissioner Col Blanch are detailing the incident in a snap press conference.

The 16-year-old-boy shot by police was rushed to hospital but died a short time after.

Police say they received an emergency call just after 10pm on Saturday from a teen saying he was going commit acts of violence.

Police then rushed to the location after a second call was received from someone at the scene.

Mr Cook said members of the WA Muslim community also phoned police to alert them.

The teen was shot after he rushed at police.

Another man was found at the scene with stab wounds to his back.

Commissioner Blanch said the teen was known to police and was part of a program designed to help individuals at risk of being radicalised.
