Dandenong’s Little India, Victoria’s first and only Indian cultural precinct, is facing a devastating threat of forced eviction after over 30 years of enriching the community with authentic Indian food, textiles, fashion, and more.
This eviction endangers over 100 families who rely on the precinct for their livelihoods, particularly in a time of post-COVID challenges, rising interest rates, and increasing living costs.
Little India has been a cornerstone for cultural exchange, offering a vibrant and diverse experience to both locals and visitors. The community is now calling for urgent support to preserve this vital cultural hub.
They urge everyone who values diversity and cultural heritage to join us on Tuesday, August 27, at 11 am at the corner of Mason Street and Foster Street.
Together, to make voices heard and remind the Victorian Government of the importance of preserving Little India ahead of the upcoming state election on November 28, 2026.
Now is the time to act. Stand together to save Little India and ensure its legacy continues for future generations.
