Sri Lankan-Founded WealthOS Bought by JPMorgan

Global banking giant JPMorgan Chase has announced its acquisition of fintech company WealthOS, marking a significant milestone for Sri Lankan-founded technology ventures on the international stage. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WealthOS, based in the United Kingdom, was co-founded by Sri Lankan entrepreneurs Anton Padmasiri and Chamath Arambawela and maintains a substantial engineering and product team in Sri Lanka. Employees from both the UK and Sri Lanka are expected to join JPMorgan as part of the transition.

Padmasiri described the acquisition as a major step in WealthOS’s growth, saying the company will play a key role in JPMorgan Chase’s global wealth management strategy. “Being chosen by an institution of JPMorgan’s calibre is an incredible validation for everyone who helped build this company,” he added.

Before the acquisition, WealthOS had been recognized as Sri Lanka’s only B2B fintech SaaS firm and had introduced the UK’s first cloud-native self-invested personal pension (SIPP) software, further cementing its innovative reputation in financial technology.
