Sri Lanka Under-19 Women registered an impressive 52-run win over England Under-19 Women in the second match of the Women’s U19 Tri-Series held in Australia.
Batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 170 in 42.4 overs after overcoming a shaky start. Limansa Thilakarathne anchored the innings with a well-crafted 51, while Shashini Gimhani added a valuable 39 to rebuild the innings and guide the team to a competitive total.
In response, England struggled against consistent Sri Lankan bowling and found themselves in deep trouble at 41 for 6 within the first 17 overs. Bryony Gillgrass was the top scorer with 35, but lacked support from the rest of the batting lineup as wickets continued to fall.
Chamodi Praboda led the bowling attack with key breakthroughs, while Aseni Thalagune and the rest of the bowlers maintained tight control to dismiss England for 118 in 42.1 overs.
Sri Lanka’s strong showing with both bat and ball secured a commanding victory and boosted their confidence in the tournament.
