With wickets falling at regular intervals, the chase remained in the balance until Chamika Heenatigala produced a calm and mature unbeaten 51 off 57 balls. His crucial partnerships with Dulnith Sigera (22) and the lower order guided Sri Lanka safely home in the final overs. Rasith Nimsara stayed not out on 6, helping finish the job.
Afghanistan’s bowlers fought hard, with Nooristani Omarzai returning impressive figures of 3/52, and Wahidullah Zadran conceding just 16 runs in his 10 overs, but Sri Lanka’s composure under pressure proved decisive.
