Sri Lanka U19 dominate Ireland with 106-run win

Sri Lanka continued their impressive run at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup with a commanding 106-run victory over Ireland in the 13th match of the tournament, played in Windhoek, to stay unbeaten in the competition.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Sri Lankan youngsters produced a disciplined and well-paced innings to post a competitive total of 267 for five in their 50 overs. The top order laid a solid foundation, rotating the strike effectively while punishing loose deliveries, before the middle order accelerated in the latter stages to ensure a challenging target on the board.

In response, Ireland faced immediate pressure from Sri Lanka’s sharp bowling attack. Despite brief resistance from a few batters, the Irish side struggled to build meaningful partnerships as wickets fell at regular intervals. The Sri Lankan bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths, backed by energetic fielding, to keep Ireland in check throughout the chase.

Ireland were eventually bowled out for 161 in 40.1 overs, well short of the required total, handing Sri Lanka a comprehensive 106-run win. The result further strengthened Sri Lanka’s position in the tournament, highlighting their balance in both batting and bowling as they continue their unbeaten march in the Under-19 World Cup.
