Sri Lanka to Sign Multiple Agreements with the Vatican: Minister.

Sri Lanka is preparing to sign several bilateral agreements with the Vatican during the upcoming visit of the Vatican’s Foreign Minister, Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Foreign Minister Vijitha Hearth announced in Parliament today.

Foreign Minister Vijitha Hearth informed Parliament that Sri Lanka will soon formalize a series of agreements with the Vatican aimed at strengthening diplomatic and cultural relations between the two states.

The agreements are expected to be signed during the official visit of Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, who is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka in the near future.

Although details of the agreements have not yet been disclosed, officials indicated that they will likely cover areas such as education, humanitarian cooperation, and interfaith dialogue, reflecting the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and the Holy See.

The Minister noted that this diplomatic engagement marks a significant step in reinforcing Sri Lanka’s ties with the Vatican, particularly following recent efforts to deepen collaboration on peacebuilding and cultural exchange.
