Sri Lanka rupee ends flat in spot-next, gilt yields unchanged




ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee closed flat at 188.50/189 to the US dollar on Thursday in the spot-next market while gilt yields remained unchanged in dull market trade, dealers said.

The rupee was quoted at 188.40/188.80 to the US dollar on Wednesday against the US dollar.

In the secondary securities market, bond yields remained unchanged in dull market trade, dealers said.

“Activities in the secondary bond market remained dried up with thin volumes while yields were broadly steady,” FirstCapital Market Research said.

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 closed flat at 5.70/75 per cent on Thursday from Wednesday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 closed flat at 5.74/78 per cent on Thursday from Wednesday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed flat at 6.42/45 per cent.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 closed at flat at 6.50/60 per cent from Wednesday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 closed flat at 6.73/83 per cent from the previous day’s end.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 closed unchanged at 7.15/20 per cent from yesterday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 closed flat 7.23/30 per cent from the previous day’s end.

A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 closed flat at 7.75/95 per cent from the previous day’s closing. (Colombo/Dec17/2020)
