ECONOMYNEXT – The new High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha presented his credentials to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat on Friday (22).
As a senior Indian diplomat, he was India’s Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg before taking up his assignment in Colombo.
High Commissioner Jha had also served in Colombo from 2007-2010 as Counsellor at the High Commission, handling work related to commercial and economic matters.
He has served as a member of the negotiating teams for establishing free trade agreements between India and Sri Lanka as well as between India and the European Union.
“India and Sri Lanka have longstanding economic, cultural and social bonds, and I’m committed to strengthening these ties,” Jha wrote in the commemorative notebook on the occasion.
“I’m committed to further increase Indo-Sri Lanka cooperation in many fields including trade, investment and energy,” the new Indian High Commissioner said.(Colombo/Dec22/20023)
