Sri Lanka rugby captain Tarinda Ratwatte retires

Sri Lanka rugby captain Tarinda Ratwatte has announced his retirement from the sport, ending a notable career that began at Trinity College in 2006.

The dynamic playmaker led the national team and represented CR & FC and Kandy Sports Club during his decade-long club career. 

In a social media statement, Ratwatte said rugby had gifted him with lifelong friendships and invaluable lessons.

While stepping away from competitive play, he indicated a desire to stay involved through mentoring, coaching, or commentary. 

He stated that “Rugby will always be a part of who I am.”
