President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, during his official state visit to the Maldives, engaged in bilateral talks with Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at the Maldivian Presidential Office today.
Following the high-level discussions, two significant agreements were signed between the two nations. The first is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM) and Sri Lanka’s Bandaranaike Diplomatic Training Institute, aimed at enhancing cooperation in diplomatic training and information exchange.
The second is a mutual legal assistance agreement focused on criminal matters, strengthening the legal collaboration between the two countries.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), these agreements mark a major step in improving bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
The agreements were signed by Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Vijitha Herath, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism.
