The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) proudly announces the appointment of Anitra Perera as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from September 2024. Ms. Perera, a highly accomplished leader in education and strategic consultancy, brings over 15 years of experience, which will be vital in furthering SLID’s mission of advancing corporate governance and leadership standards in Sri Lanka.
Anitra Perera is a prominent figure in the education sector, known for her innovative contributions. As the former Managing Director and Coordinating Principal of the Alethea Group of Schools, she spearheaded the digital transformation of the institution, making it Sri Lanka’s first “Smart School” in 2018. Her efforts set new benchmarks for digital education in the country, earning her several accolades, including the prestigious “Education Leadership Award of the Year” in 2022 at the CEO Sri Lanka Awards.
Perera’s influence extends beyond the education realm, having served as a non-executive director for higher education institutions across Singapore, Malaysia, and China. She was also recognized in Cosmopolitan’s “35 Under 35” list in 2020, which celebrated 35 outstanding young women under the age of 35. In 2019, she was awarded “Edupreneur of the Year” at the International Schools Awards in India, where her leadership also saw her institution win “Best Stand-alone School of the Year” and “Best Infrastructure of the Year.”
