Karuppiah Ramakrishnan, a prominent sports journalist and president of the Professional Sport Journalists Association of Sri Lanka, has officially signed his nomination papers to contest the upcoming General Elections from the Nuwara Eliya District. Representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Ramakrishnan is stepping into the political field, bringing his extensive experience from the world of sports journalism.
Ramakrishnan has had a distinguished career, contributing to several leading media organizations, including the Sunday Observer, Capital Maharaja, Ceylon Today, and Carlton Sports Network. His work has significantly impacted the promotion of Sri Lankan sports both locally and internationally.
As the founder and Managing Director of Lion Nation Sports Network, Ramakrishnan has been at the forefront of promoting sports through innovative digital platforms. Two years ago, he charted a vision for the launch of a new sports app and the relaunch of his network’s website, which further solidified his commitment to advancing Sri Lankan sports.
Ramakrishnan’s entry into politics reflects his ambition to bring about change, particularly for the communities in Nuwara Eliya, where his deep-rooted connections and passion for development can have a strong impact.
