South Australia’s class of 2024 has finally had its year 12 results released.
Kevin Hua, the son of dedicated market gardeners, was among the record number of students to receive their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) results.
He finished with an ATAR of 98.05, securing him a scholarship to study law and economics at university.
Indulee Jayawardena surpassed her own expectations by achieving an ATAR of 99.75, while fellow high-achiever Platon Butenko attributed his impressive ATAR of 99 to picking subjects he enjoyed, including music.
“Music allows you to use another part of your brain, and that way you get to recharge for each subject,” he said.
Among the class of 2024, nearly 1200 students achieved more than 1400 merits – the highest possible score for a subject.
A select group received governor’s commendations for overcoming barriers or making significant contributions to their communities during their studies.
The number of students completing SACE reached a record 15,967, with about 4000 hailing from regional South Australia and more than 6000 students incorporating vocational training into their studies.
