In preparation for the upcoming Local Government (LG) Elections, the Ministry of Education has announced the temporary closure of all schools today and tomorrow. Schools are expected to resume normal operations on May 7.
Several public services across the country will also be paused or limited during the election period:
Passport Services: Both one-day and standard passport issuance will be suspended today, tomorrow, and the following day. The 24-hour expedited service will also be unavailable.
Motor Revenue Licensing – Western Province: Licensing counters will remain closed today and tomorrow. The Western Province Chief Secretary’s Office confirmed that penalties will not be applied for renewals on the first reopening day, and only the regular fee will be charged.
Department for the Registration of Persons: All one-day and regular services at the head office and provincial branches will be suspended tomorrow and the following day.
These changes aim to support smooth election operations and maintain public order during the voting period.
