A 28-year-old Saudi national has been arrested after allegedly assaulting two flight attendants on a SriLankan Airlines flight from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The incident occurred on flight UL-266, which arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 6:32 a.m. yesterday (26). The passenger, who was en route to Malaysia, reportedly attempted to go to the toilet while the plane was preparing to land—a time when all passengers are required to fasten their seat belts.
When the flight attendants informed the pilot, airport police were alerted and arrested the suspect after the plane landed.
The Katunayake Airport Police, along with the Katunayake Airport Tourist Police, are jointly investigating the incident. Since it occurred in Sri Lankan airspace, the Saudi national is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court No. 01 today (27).
