In an electrifying performance at the Harare Sports Club, vice-captain Sanju Samson’s colossal 110-meter six and Mukesh Kumar’s career-best bowling figures secured a decisive 42-run victory for India over Zimbabwe in the fifth and final T20I, sealing the series 4-1.
Vice-captain Sanju Samson was the star of the show, smashing a magnificent 110-meter six that sent the ball out of the ground. Samson’s impressive 45-ball 58, including a four and four sixes, rescued India from a precarious position after losing their top three batters in the powerplay. He shared a crucial 65-run stand off 56 balls for the fourth wicket with Riyan Parag, stabilizing India’s innings.
Brandon Mavuta tossed up the ball outside off stump, and Samson unleashed his power, slamming it down the ground for the massive six. Alongside Samson, Dube’s quick cameo of 26 and Rinku Singh’s lofty hits at the end propelled India to a competitive 167/6, with 30 runs coming off the last two overs.
In response, Mukesh Kumar struck early, taking two wickets with the new ball and finishing with career-best figures of 4-22. Zimbabwe’s Dion Myers and Tadiwanashe Marumani showed resistance, but a middle-order collapse saw them crumble from 85/3 to 94/7, eventually being all out for 125 in 18.3 overs. Washington Sundar, Abhishek Sharma, and Tushar Deshpande each contributed key wickets, sealing another convincing win for India.
Earlier in the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a blistering start with consecutive sixes off Sikandar Raza’s first two balls. Despite losing wickets, Samson’s boundary-laden knock ensured India set a formidable target. Brandon Mavuta and Blessing Muzarabani took key wickets for Zimbabwe, but Samson’s heroics overshadowed their efforts.
Samson’s monstrous six and Kumar’s exceptional bowling defined the match, showcasing India’s dominance and sealing a triumphant series win.
