India Women sealed a comfortable eight‑wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the opening T20I of the five‑match series, thanks to a sparkling knock from Jemimah Rodrigues.
Rodrigues made light work of the chase, smashing an unbeaten 69 off 44 balls with 10 fours, guiding India to the target in just 14.4 overs with the loss of only two wickets. After the early dismissal of Shafali Verma, Rodrigues combined with Smriti Mandhana for a crucial 54‑run stand for the second wicket, effectively ending Sri Lanka’s hopes.

Earlier, Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum and crawled to 121 for 6 in their 20 overs. Vishmi Gunarathne, Hasini Perera, and Harshitha Samarawickrama all got starts but failed to convert them into significant scores, as the batting lineup found it difficult to connect throughout the innings.
The Sri Lankan effort featured just nine boundaries and a solitary six, while the batters consumed 46 dot balls out of 120 deliveries, underscoring their struggles against the Indian attack.
