[ad_1]

A motorcyclist has died in a horror crash with a truck in the Snowy Mountains on Saturday, taking the state’s Easter road toll to three.

The male rider was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the Snowy Mountains Highway near Kiandra in southern NSW just after 11am.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after the crash which also involved a B-double.

“Officers attached to Monaro Police District have taken the male driver of the truck to Cooma Hospital for mandatory testing,” NSW Police said.

The Snowy Mountains Highway was closed in both directions, between Link Road and Providence Portal park entry, because of the accident.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

The motorcyclist is the third person to die on NSW roads in three days.

On Friday police issued an impassioned plea for motorists to be vigilant on the roads after two men died on Thursday.

An elderly pedestrian died after an accident in Sydney’s south-west late on Thursday evening.

Emergency services were called to the accident at Oxley Street, Campbelltown at about 11.15pm after an 80-year-old man was hit by a car.

Earlier, a man died after his motorcycle crashed into a pole on Anzac Parade, Kensington on Thursday afternoon.

“Two tragic deaths on our roads and almost a thousand drivers blatantly disobeying road rules it not good enough,” NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden said on Friday.

“I want to once again urge drivers to be safe this long weekend and not put other drivers at risk.”
